When people around us experience uncertainty and loss, it can be hard to know just what to say—or do—to help.

As human beings, our natural inclination is to try and fix the problem that’s before us … but that’s not always the most loving approach.

In a recent broadcast of Making Your Life Count, popular music artist, Kari Jobe, offers a few things she tells friends to comfort them in times of hardship:

“I pray for the strength of God to walk through this because He sees things that we don’t see.”

“God is fighting for you in the midst of this.”

“There’s beautiful things for us to see all along the journey if we’ll open our eyes and let Him show us.”

Allowing others to sit in the reality of their current situation, while also speaking hope into their hearts, is such a beautiful and rare balance.

Whether you’re trying to encourage a friend—or you’re experiencing a difficult time yourself—God is faithful. And when we rest in that, we truly are “making our lives count” for His glory.
