Usually it’s my children asking me questions. Not this time.
While serving in the 2-year old Sunday school class this weekend, it was my 13 year-old Rebecca who was fielding the questions. One of the little girls asked her why there was a picture of a palm tree leaf on the church bulletin. Rebecca told her it was Palm Sunday, the day Jesus went to Jerusalem and that the crowds welcomed Him by waving palm branches. The inquisitive girl asked why the people welcomed Him. Rebecca told her it was because they knew He was their Savior and they were rejoicing.
As Rebecca recounted the morning “Q & A” with me, I thought about how impactful the moments are when we stop to simply rejoice in our Savior.
The hymn sing at NRB was one of those impactful times as Joni Eareckson Tada led in beloved hymns such as “Be Thou My Vision” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”
And this week, as we reflect on the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry marking the culmination of our Savior’s long journey toward Golgotha where He would lay down His life for us, it seems fitting to share a glimpse of present day rejoicing.
So, sometime this Passion Week, maybe set aside a few moments to spend with Joni, Keith and Kristyn Getty, Evie, Bob Lepine, Robert and Nancy Wolgemuth, and Pastor Carter Conlon in a time of reflecting and rejoicing in our Savior (click here to view and sing along).
There’s also no better time than Easter to direct others to the one true source of hope, Jesus Christ — check out this great story about Joni and Friends® per NBC, Los Angeles, which does just that!
Blessings to you and yours this Easter as we celebrate our Risen Savior!

P.S. And, thank you for joining in prayer for those impacted by the horrific tragedy in Brussels –the hope and comfort of Christ is the message we need to share with grieving hearts.
