“How you live, love, and lead your step and biological children will create a legacy and heritage that will long outlive you.”

(Ron Deal from his book, The Smart Stepdad)

At the end of April, FamilyLife Blended hosted their first livestream event for stepfamilies. Ron Deal, joined by other respected experts, provided attendees with the five crucial keys to creating a healthy stepfamily, one of which includes being dedicated to the journey.

Based on these stats from the event, it’s obvious the ministry is meeting a significant need:

  • 13,446 was the total estimated audience
  • 2271 total unique livestreams (about 500 of those were churches)
  • 22 countries were represented

When sharing this good report with the FamilyLife team, Ron said “A pastor in South Carolina told me that a couple from his church brought two other non-Christian couples who were ‘in awe that the church would speak into their life with practical information from people who had ‘Been there, done that.'”  If that doesn’t just say it all.

Your listeners may have missed out on this event, but you still have an opportunity to provide them with daily stepfamily wisdom when you air Ron’s 60-second feature, FamilyLife Blended.”  It’s available via FTP and Amb-OS.  For your auditioning pleasure, here’s one with Father’s Day in mind.

Of course, there’s more programming ahead for the fathers in your audience.  Airing all next week on “FamilyLife Today,”  several guests join Dennis Rainey to talk about what it means to be a father that leads.  I  highly recommend Friday’s (6/16) broadcast with Pastor H.B. Charles.  My husband and I heard this interview recorded live on the LLYMI cruise back in February.   H.B. tells of his father’s profound influence on him and the legacy he left behind.  For more programming details, download the program tool kit, or contact me directly.

A few weeks ago while I was perusing a hospital gift shop, I found a photo frame with the inscription “Walk a little slower, Daddy, I’m following in your footsteps.”  It inspired me to take the photo above to include in the frame as a Father’s Day gift to my son.  My encouragement to him will be the same for you.  Don’t miss the incredible and privileged responsibility God has given you to live, love, and lead your children rightly.  Your legacy depends on it.
