Listening to FamilyLife Today for the past 26 years, I’ve gleaned much about what it means to be a Christian woman in today’s culture.

From being a single mom … to a wife in a blended family … to a caregiver for my elderly parents … to an empty nester … to understanding the value of leaving a legacy, FamilyLife has provided me with sound biblical wisdom for embracing the day-to-day joys and challenges every season of life brings.

But just when I thought I’d been schooled enough about “family life,” along comes a grandson (now 3 years old).  Each month  I look forward to tuning into FamilyLife Today with greater anticipation of learning something new and, in some cases, hearing again good advice for navigating this season of grandparenthood.

With that in mind, here are a few upcoming broadcasts that have piqued my interest:

  • Don’t Give Up (8/12-14) … Pastor Kyle Idleman is convinced these three words are what most people need to hear in the face of trials and discouragement.  Kyle shares how listeners can learn to persevere through the tough times by replacing the lies with the promises of God.
  • Praying With Our Children (8/29-30)… Nancy Guthrie, author and speaker, has a passion for applying God’s Word to real life.  And this month she tells parents (and grandparents) that if we want our children to be grounded in the Scriptures and have an intimate relationship with God, we need to model that.

As a full-fledged “Nana,” unabashedly I’ve taken up the mantle of being an intentional grandparent–one who not only wants to spend as much time as is possible with her grandson but one who also understands it’s never too late to learn and study God’s Word in order to pass on a legacy of faith.

Be sure to download this month’s Program Tool Kit.  I can guarantee you’ll find there’s something for every listener, no matter what season of life they may be in.
