It’s been said, “If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far,  go together.”

Our Sunday School embarked on a goal this last Fall – a goal to go further, deeper in His word, together, through the use of Anne Graham Lotz’s Three Question Bible Study Method.

As we carefully and methodically read through 1 Thessalonians, verse, by verse, we did so by answering these three questions:

  1. What does God’s Word say? (List the facts.)
  2. What does God’s Word mean? (Learn the lessons.)
  3. What does God’s Word mean to me? (Listen to His voice.)

The three question approach served to guide us in discovering gems of His promises in each and every verse.  Every week, discovering, together, what God’s Word said to us was such a source of peace, comfort and strength as the last few months have brought with it some significant trials for many in the class.

Every day on Anne’s one minute program, “Daily Light for Daily Living,” she takes listeners deeper into His Word – applying Bible principles to life.  I shared a recent program titled, “No Pat Answers” with my Sunday School Class.  Anne’s message ministered to each of us – these reminders in particular:

Your Suffering Isn’t Wasted – it’s not an end in itself.

God is Bigger than Your Suffering.  You can have hope as you place your trust in Him . . . in His faithfulness and in His ability to work out His purposes in your life.

Brokenness leads to blessing.  Death leads to life and suffering leads to glory . . . God’s glory in you.

What great reminders that no matter the journey, short or long, close or far, as Romans 8:28 states, God promises that all things work together for good!
