One of the most encouraging news stories last week was about the Marines who rushed to join good Samaritans and firefighters in helping to rescue people after a major fire broke out at a senior housing complex in Washington D.C.

The Marines, stationed just a half-mile away, took action after they saw smoke pouring from the building — all 191 residents got out alive with only 6 going to the hospital.

Reflecting on the firefighters, good Samaritans and Marines, Mayor Muriel Bowers of Washington D.C, expressed, “A deep sense of gratitude goes out to #DCsBravest tonight. As a fire took over the homes of our seniors, they fought the flames and withstood the smoke to save lives. Thank you. Our city honors you.”

What is a hero? The dictionary simply states that a hero is “a person who is admired for courage or noble qualities.”  I think most would agree that a hero is also an individual that impacts lives.

In my book, anyone who stands up for the ones who cannot is a hero.

With over 40 years of significant contribution and recognition in the pro-life movement, Brad Mattes is widely known in the United States and worldwide for his passion for the preborn.  As a protector and defender of the unborn, he champions on behalf of every vulnerable life . . . as he writes, speaks and hosts the daily 1:00 pro-life radio program, “Life Issues.”

Last week, on ETWN’s Pro-Life Weekly TV program, Brad reflected on Planned Parenthood’s announcement of their new President, Dr. Leana Wen,

“I have a hard time calling her a doctor.  A doctor heals and nurtures. She’s now in the abortion business.”

Speaking on behalf of life, Brad and the Life Issues Institute is committed to the goal of restoring a culture that values human life, both young and old, born and unborn.

Thankful for all who act on behalf of life – those who come to the rescue of senior citizens in a burning building or those who commit their lives to defending those who have no voice.

P.S.  Production is underway for the Sanctity of Life Special 2019 with Brad Mattes,  “Breaking the Silence”. . . from generation to generation! Last year Brad brought listeners out of the shadows of sex trafficking in one of the most informative specials of the year.  This year Life Issues Institute is breaking the silence of chemical abortion. Contact me, Lee Ann, for details on the special!
