For 33 years, Mr. Rogers invited kids into his “home” by singing the song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor.”  His long-running PBS television show used a common understanding of community in the 1960s and 1970s to create a welcoming, virtual world for children.

Fast forward 50 years, and people are less connected with their neighbors.   A recent Pew Research study said only 57% say they know some of their neighbors; and only 26% say they know most of them.  Americans ages 65 and older are more likely than those ages 18 to 29 to say they know most of their neighbors (34% vs. 20%). By contrast, about a quarter (23%) of adults under 30 don’t know any of their neighbors, compared with just 4% among those 65 and older.

So if people are hesitant to get to know their neighbors, how unlikely is it that someone would share the gospel with a perfect stranger?

Evangelism Explosion wants to change that!  Through their Equip America events, John Sorensen, president of Evangelism Explosion, and his team at EE want to train an army of Christians to be able to boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Equip America is a Share-Your-Faith experience that demonstrates to pastors and lay leaders the effectiveness of personal evangelism. We’re looking for radio stations in key cities across the United States to partner with Evangelism Explosion. We want pastors and lay leaders to catch the vision to train believers in evangelism so they can spiritually multiply.  Check out this new short video about how YOU can get involved.

At NRB, Evangelism Explosion is hosting two informational partnership meetings at the times below:

Tuesday, February 25 from 2-3 PM

Wednesday, February 26 from 10-11 AM

To RSVP or if you aren’t attending NRB but would like to learn more, please contact charley@ambaa.com.

We look forward to seeing you in Nashville!
