Did you make a New Year’s resolution this year?  Have you already broken it?  In my case, my annual vow to eat less, and work out more usually ends up broken before the month is out. Sadly this is true for many Christians, like the ones who pledge to read through the Bible in one year.  Last week, I laughed at the satirical Christian news website, The Babylon Bee’s headline, “Local Man’s Bible Excited To Be Read For Whole First Week Of January Again!”  See, we’re not alone.

John Sorensen started the year off with a resolution all of us can keep.  He urged Share Life Today listeners to demonstrate their faith in Christ during this upcoming year by the way they live.  He said:

There is a lot of truth in the statement, “You may be the only Bible that some people ever read,” because non-believers do study our lives as Christians.  And, yes, they are watching to see if how we speak and act lives out what we profess.  Often, we tend to think that’s a negative, that they’re trying to catch us off guard or in a weak moment.  But actually, some people watch us hopefully, wanting a confirmation of the life-changing potential that comes from having a relationship with Jesus Christ.  So, today, live out your faith with joy, knowing that God may be using you to draw that loved one, friend, or co-worker to Himself.

As we begin 2018, let’s make a commitment to live out Romans 12:2, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
