Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001?

I was in Grand Rapids attending the Midwest Regional NRB conference at the Maranatha Center.  We’d just finished breakfast and most of us were gathered in the lobby of the lodge when on the TV Good Morning America was reporting a plane had crashed into one of the towers at the World Trade Center.  Before we could wrap our heads around what was happening, we witnessed another plane deliberately crash into the second tower. Two more coordinated terrorist attacks occurred that horrific day and thousands of lives were lost. Perhaps you and your listeners wondered on that day, how could God let this happen? I admit, it’s a thought that crossed my mind.

This month, in commemoration of those tragic events, “Grace to You® airs an interview with John MacArthur that was recorded just days after September 11.  With the number of terrorist attacks happening on a regular basis (here and abroad), this is a broadcast your listeners won’t want to miss.  Not only will John show us how God answers the most challenging questions in Scripture but he’ll provide listeners with biblical wisdom for how we can honor God in the face of evil.  This 2-day broadcast titled “Standing Firm in Unstable Times” airs September 8 and 9.

(By the way, John MacArthur goes into the studio this week to record a custom promo for this series.  If you’d like to air it to promote the special 9/11 programming in advance of next week’s airing, email me and I’ll send you the link.)

Of course, to stand firm in facing these unstable times, prayer needs to be a priority. So how are we to pray?  Maybe a question to ask is “How did Christ Himself pray?” What example did He give His followers – including you and me and Christians of every era?  For these answers, encourage your listeners to tune in for John’s popular study called The Disciples’ Prayer, starting on September 12.

As we remember and reflect on the horrific events of 9/11, let us not forget that despite the evil days that loom in front of us, God still sits on the throne.
