Holidays are a great opportunity to build your social media community – especially Thanksgiving. During November (and December), people increase social media usage by searching for gifts, shopping ideas, recipes and in general, ways to mark this special time of year.

Creating fresh, unique content is an important part of growing your social media audience.

However, coming up with new content ideas can be hard.

Here are five Thanksgiving social media post ideas that you can start implementing into your seasonal social media plan:

  1. Share what your radio station or ministry is thankful for – Start a #thankfulthursday series and post something you’re grateful for each Thursday. A great place to start – thank your listeners and ministry supporters. (Bonus: Be sure to share a post thanking veterans for their service on November 11th!)
  2. Share Bible verses about being thankful – Here’s a great list of 30 Thanksgiving Bible verses perfect for expressing gratitude. (Tip: Go to Unsplash to download free, unlicensed and beautiful images to add to your posts!)
  3. Create a poll – Polls on Instagram or Twitter asking people to vote for their favorite Thanksgiving food are a great way to engage your audience!
  4. Share a Thanksgiving recipe – There are so many good Thanksgiving recipes to choose from . . . pick one that’s easy to make, sounds delicious to you and then post the recipe.
  5. Post a pun – People love a good pun – especially a timely one. (Did you hear about the stuffing costume? It was dressing in disguise.)  Here’s a list of 80 Thanksgiving puns to choose from – grab one a week to share leading up to Thanksgiving.
