Have you ever wondered what it would be like if God answered prayers by writing on a wall?

I’m not referring to the “writing on the wall” about approaching disaster – like the warning God gave to King Belshazzar in the book of Daniel.   No, I’ve often imagined God writing on the wall about the decisions He wants me to make and the paths He wants me to take.

Well, God hasn’t answered my prayers by writing on the wall, but He’s answered me in other ways.

For instance, God has answered me through Christian radio.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to a program, and thought, “wow, this message is exactly what I needed to hear!”

The other day, while listening to Joni Eareckson Tada on her one-minute daily program, Diamonds in the Dust, she was sharing about a girlfriend who helps lie her down at night. This particular friend struggles with serious emotional problems but using her gifts to help Joni, helps her.  Joni noted that it really gets her focus on the Lord and,

“God blesses her for serving a weaker member of the body of Christ.”

I was feeling pretty overwhelmed when I heard this message and it stopped me in my tracks. It had been a hard day . . . the kids were needy and my mom has been battling some serious health challenges.  What a timely reminder from Joni to focus on the words found in Ephesians 4:  the Lord gave gifts “ . . . to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature.”

And just like that, God met me where I needed Him the most.  I began to feel a renewed desire to serve my kids and my mom  . . . knowing that in doing so, I would glorify Christ.

He didn’t write it on a wall though.

He wrote it in His Word.
